Short Track Program for 2010/11

Speed Skate races can be held on two distinct types of tracks; a 400m oval called Long Track Races, and within the confines of a hockey rink on a 111.12m or 100m track, called Short Track Races.

Required Equipment

All skaters should have the following equipment:

  • Helmet
  • Neck Guard
  • Cut Resistant Gloves
  • Knee Pads
  • Safety Glasses
  • Speed Skates

Short track speed skates can be rented from the club for $50, $75 or $100 per season (depending on make) plus a $100 returnable security deposit. One pair of returnable safety glasses will be provided to each skater.

The advanced skaters must also wear cut resistant Kevlar or Dyneema ankle tubes.

NOTE: For Intermediate/Advanced skaters on Sunday there is an off ice training session at 6:00 PM. All training is held at the Canmore Recreation Centre 1900 – 8th Avenue, Canmore, Alberta

Note that Competitive membership is required for skaters in the T2T and up age groups excluding masters. For boys this means any skaters who are 12 years of age or above on 31st July. For girls it is any skater who is 11 years of age or above on 31st July. Masters are any skater 30 years of age or above on 31st July and they do not need competitive membership.
