Upcoming Events

11th Annual Canmore Ice Racing Challenge – Saturday, December 6th, 2014

Come race on the fastest ice in Western Canada, the only arena west of Quebec, where a T2T skater has skated under 38 seconds in the 400m!!

Skaters will be divided into two groups, skaters on the 100m track and skaters on the 111m track. Active Start, L2T and T2T will be competing on the 100m track. If there are enough ISU Junior skaters to make their own division, they will skate on the 111m track, otherwise they will skate as T2T on the 100m trackThe Masters skaters will compete in the Masters Ice Racing Challenge (MIRC), racing the 1000m, 500m and 1500m as part of the competition, with a 3000m race offered as an exhibition race at the conclusion of racing if time permits. All Masters events will take place on the 111m track, and Masters will skate first after floods. If you have any questions please contact Ian Mellors at communication@banffcanmorespeedskating.ca.

If you are available on race day, or if you have a skater competing, please sign up for one of the volunteer positions. Any questions on what the different position are, please ask. Come and try the exciting sport of short track speed skating with us!

Our club wants to make it easy for children, teenagers, and adults to come out and give speed skating a try. We offer 3 one hour “try it” sessions for $30, which includes coaching and speed skates. These sessions are available to anyone during the speed skating season (which runs from September to March). If you decide to join our club after three sessions, the $30 dollars will be subtracted from your fees for the season. For information about our fees please click on the “information” tab above. If you decide to join midway through our season, your fees will be prorated.

To arrange a “try it” session, please email us at communication@banffcanmorespeedskating.ca and we will contact you to set up a skate fitting appointment and make arrangements for your first “try it” session.
